So Others May Eat is a not for profit agency, a 501(C)(3), in the State of California that provides food and advocacy for the homeless and disabled in the coastal communities of San Diego County. Our goal is to help the homeless obtain housing and other services with dignity and respect.

Our primary three programs are: Bi-weekly hot meals served to anyone in need, A Mobile Food Pantry Program, and Weekly BBQ Lunches served in the coastal community off Mission Bay.

Hot Meals Served Bi-weekly

So Others May Eat provides nutritious hot meals to all of San Diego’s homeless community twice a month.  Dinners consist of salad, a healthy main entrée, various sides dishes, desserts, ice cream, coffee, and numerous beverage options.  There is plenty of food for all our guests, and we often create take-home meals at the end of the night. Regardless of economic status, all those in need of a hot & healthy meal are welcome to join us!

Mobile Food Pantry

We also offer a Mobile Food Pantry along with our community lunches & dinners. Our Mobile Food Pantry offers numerous perishable and non-perishable items FREE for anyone in need. We provide all our guests with a bag of groceries to help them out during the week in between our lunches & dinners.  Our patrons consist of homeless from all walks of life, elderly adults, and families and individuals that have homes but are going through a financially difficult time. We offer help and accept anyone who needs assistance.

The average grocery bag that we provide to our guests may consist of eggs, milk, juice, cheese, butter, creamer, bread, lunch meat, snacks along with beef, chicken. pork, and ready-to-eat sandwiches for our homeless guests that have no access to a stove or refrigerator and much more.  Our large donors are Ralphs Supermarket, Haggen Grocery Store, Jimbos Market, Sprouts Grocery store and Restaurant Depot, Brick & Bell,  Sprinkles Cupcakes, Frost Me cupcakes, and The Hyatt Regency Hotel, La Jolla.
